Can you clean all roof types?

Yes, from concrete tiles to pantiles to clay tiles to slate tiles to corrugated roofs, we effectively clean all types of roofs.

What causes the moss and lichen growth on my roof?

As the hat of the building, roofs are especially exposed allowing organic matter to settle and be absorbed causing growth and reproduction of algae, lichen and moss. Moss thrives in shaded, poorly lit areas creating a cold and damp environment accelerating the growth of algae and moss.

    Can moss damage my roof?

Generally speaking, damage is not caused. Excessive moss will result in additional weight on the roof when wet as it retains the absorbed water. Damage can be caused if tiles lift and moss forms between the tiles and water ingress is possible.

Moss is also responsible for filling and blocking gutters, downpipes and drains; this can cause damage to the gutters and joints themselves and is a major cause for damp on walls in homes.

Keeping your roof cleaned, prevents unnecessary damage, keeps your roof looking much nicer and prevents your gutters from filling and causing any subsequent damage.

Do you carry out a site survey?

Without obligation, our first step is to survey and evaluate the tile type & condition of your roof to determine the specific process of application for your roof.

The company you choose should understand different the processes of how to effectively clean each roof type. You can be assured Wadesons will evaluate and complete any works to the highest of standards.

How do you access my roof?

Our surveyors will evaluate the safest and most effective method to access the different roof aspects forming part of any building from roof ladders to our cherry picker platform.

How do you clean my roof?

Wadesons utilise a range of methods from graded brushes to safe bio degradable chemical treatments and water to steam systems based on tile type, roof condition and severity of moss build up.

You can be assured our experienced teams will use the most effective methods giving you the best results. We will also remove any waste that can be carried and ensure we leave the working area clean and tidy.

Can you prevent the moss & Lichen from coming back?

Once the roof has been cleaned, we can apply a biocide Inhibitor preventing the spores to take root for a considerable time. This can last many years or less if any part of the building is exposed to damp, moisture or shading.

We can also apply high quality, accredited clear roof sealant to most tile types preventing algae spores to take root reducing cleaning maintenance for years to come.

Will you damage my roof while cleaning?

In short, we will not only clean your roof but leave your roof in better condition. ‘How’ you may ask; over many years various elements from wind and rain to algae/moss growth, in addition to slight building/rafter movement can cause cracks in tiles and tile displacement. Cement also dries out, cracks and detaches from the tile often leaving ridge tiles and hip tiles needing re-cementing.

Upon survey, we are happy to discuss any options you may wish to consider in bringing your roof back to tip top condition.
